Who's Behind This Site
The Advice Comes From Someone Who Was on the Other Side of the Counter
Most car rental advice on the internet comes from travel bloggers who've rented a car a few dozen times. RentalCarPerks.com is different. Our founder spent 14 years inside Alamo Rent A Car — working his way up from reservations agent through management, marketing, and eventually senior leadership of the corporate rental division.
That career arc covered virtually every angle of the car rental business. On the consumer-facing side: reservations operations, customer loyalty programs, and how those programs were designed and marketed. On the corporate side: how major companies negotiated discount codes, what made those codes valuable, and how the express rental programs like ⚡ Quicksilver were built from the inside out.
One of the most valuable stops along the way was managing airline and hotel marketing partnerships for Alamo — the exact kind of relationship that sits behind the discount codes and perks travelers try to find online. That experience means our founder understands not just that these deals exist, but how they work, why they're offered, and where the real value is.
After Alamo, Patrick was recruited to launch a new advertising platform for Worldspan — the global travel distribution system now known as Travelport. He rose through the ranks to become Director of Advertising and Ground Transportation, a role that carried responsibility for managing relationships with car rental companies both domestically and internationally. That's a view of the industry most people never get: how the brands position themselves to travel agencies, how pricing flows through global distribution systems, and what travelers actually see versus what's really happening behind the curtain.
RentalCarPerks.com was built on that foundation — and rebuilt in 2026 with a simple goal: give everyday travelers the same quality of information that industry insiders have always had access to.

Why Experience Matters Here
What You Get From an Insider
That You Can't Get Anywhere Else
Knowing how the car rental industry actually operates changes what kind of advice is possible. Here's what that background makes available to you on this site.
How Discount Codes Really Work
Corporate discount codes (AWD, BCD, CDP) aren't magic — they're negotiated rate structures. Knowing how they're built means knowing which ones are actually worth using.
The Partnership Model Decoded
Airline miles, hotel points, credit card perks — these don't happen by accident. They're negotiated partnership programs, and understanding the mechanics helps you maximize them.
Express Programs Explained
Programs like Quicksilver existed to solve specific friction points for frequent renters. That same logic applies today — knowing which express/loyalty programs are worth enrolling in vs. which are marketing fluff.
How Pricing Actually Flows
From brand pricing desks through global distribution systems to what you see on a booking screen — understanding that pipeline explains why prices change and when to book.
Our Mission
Level the Playing Field
at the Rental Counter
The car rental industry is full of fine print, upsells, and pricing dynamics designed to extract money from people who don't know what they're looking at. Most travelers are operating blind. RentalCarPerks.com exists to change that.
We bring 25+ years of firsthand industry experience to every comparison, every guide, and every recommendation on this site. The goal isn't to rank brands by whoever pays us the most — it's to give you the same quality of information that insiders have always had access to.
We earn a small commission when you book through our links. It costs you nothing extra and never influences what we recommend. We call it as we see it — because we've seen it from the inside.
